Latin Teacher Position (2024-25)

Position Available: Blair Academy announces an opening for a Latin teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. We are searching for an enthusiastic, student-centered, and collegial teacher who will share in the responsibility of ensuring that our teaching of Latin at Blair stems from engagement in culture and centers on student agency, mutual peer support and collaboration.

The strongest applicants will have the following qualifications:

• Passion for teaching students at all levels, from introductory classes through advanced study;

• BA in Classics; and 
• Strong commitment to developing the scope, sequence, curriculum and assessments of Latin courses with an approach centered on learner inquiry and effective feedback-driven growth, as well as collaborating with department colleagues to ensure consistent outcomes across languages.

Typical job responsibilities include:

• Teaching five sections each semester;
• Coaching or assisting with a sport/activity for one season;
• Advising a group of six students; and
• Providing weekly supervision for boarding students.

• Will approach every aspect of our shared work as a way to build and deepen relationships, since building relationships is at the heart of everything we do at Blair;
• Are motivated to help our students meet their aims by maintaining high standards while also practicing care and flexibility;
• Demonstrate an investment in helping to build our community as one that is supportive, healthy, inclusive and diverse;
• Show an ability to juggle multiple priorities and responsibilities; and
• Enjoy working with adolescent students, in particular.
