Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 annually (prorated) commensurate with background and experience
Responsibilities:
The Personal Development Coordinator oversees all elements of the Personal Development program during the school day and after-school hours. In addition, the Personal Development Coordinator is an active member of the school faculty, for example by participating in meetings, serving on school committees, and volunteering for various other professional duties. The specific responsibilities are as follows:
Teach Personal Development Courses
- Teach Grades 6, 7 & 8 personal development classes/social emotional learning classes, where students feel comfortable participating, sharing experiences and expressing themselves. Topics include treating others with respect, healthy relationships, expressing emotions, managing stress, healthy body image, assertiveness, and media literacy.
- Work collaboratively with subject area, grade-level, and school-wide colleagues for curriculum planning, student support, and mentoring.
Ursuline Connections Program
- Train 11th grade students to mentor 9th grade students as they transition into and adjust to the expectations of high school.
- Oversee all aspects of the 9th Grade Personal Development program including organization of permission slips, the scheduling of transportation, facilities set-up, and securing of chaperones.
Conflict Resolution Workshops/Student Mediation
- Plan and teach Conflict Resolution workshops to interested 11th & 12th grade students.
- Manage referrals to Peer Mediation and facilitate
Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in school counseling or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
· New York State certification preferred
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in secondary education (6-12) preferred
· Experience incorporating technology in support of student learning
· Ability to collaboratively plan curriculum, including project-based learning initiatives
· Passion for teaching in Catholic education
· Interest in continued professional development and curriculum development
· A demonstrated commitment to high expectations for every student, including the ability to provide appropriate accommodations to promote the growth and success of all students
