JOB STATUS: 12 months / Part-time / Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• In coordination with the Director of Facilities and Head of School, develop a constructive, proactive safety and security philosophy and operational procedures based on best practices in schools;
• Ensure the implementation of overall security strategies and oversee safety and security operations on a daily basis;
• Regularly review and update Baldwin's emergency response guide to reflect best practices and current research in school and student safety;
• Co-Chair and lead the Safety and Security Committee with the Director of Facilities;
• In coordination with the Director of Communications, create a crisis management plan and threat assessment policy;
• Lead and conduct emergency response trainings, as well as safety drills, for all faculty, staff, and students;
• Conduct regular staff meetings with security officers assigned to the school to reinforce training and discuss security-related matters;
• Monitor the school calendar to ensure security coverage for all school events;
• Conduct investigations and create incident reports for any relevant security incidents on campus;
• Covers security shifts as needed;
• Track and schedule all required safety inspections; and
• Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a former law enforcement officer or security professional;
  • ASIS Certified Protection Professional of Physical Security Professional certification preferred;
  • Understanding of best practices and current safety and security protocols in schools;
  • Ability to obtain information through interviews and observation and to conduct comprehensive investigations, as necessary;
  • Ability to take charge and deal professionally and calmly in emergencies; .
  • Ability to analyze risk and make appropriate recommendations in a school setting;
  • Express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form;

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with employees, students, parents, school administration, and local law enforcement representatives;

• Experience with Google Suite; and
• CPR/First Aid Certified.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

• Ability to lift 40 lbs +/- items needed to perform the functions of the job;
• Sit, stand, and walk for required periods of time;Exposure to a variety of weather conditions year-round.
