Position Summary
The Spence School is seeking a Program Assistant for Second Act, a fun, dynamic and creative after-school program open to children in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The Second Act Assistant works with both the Director and Assistant Director of Second Act to uphold the values and goals of the after-school program, lead the program’s community standards for conduct and behavior and enforce safety and health regulations. The Second Act Assistant reports directly to the Director and assists the Director in supervising students and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the after school program.
Responsibilities:
- Attend daily briefings with Director and Assistant Director
- Oversee daily attendance and dismissal to parents/caregivers
- Supervise and engage with groups of students during program hours
- Arrange and distribute materials, including snack set-up and clean-up
- Assist in occasionally teaching after-school classes
- Escort and supervise students during off-site activities
- Develop activities for small groups of children
- Work within a close team to support 80-120 students per day
- Attend the Responsive Classroom one-day workshop and use program with students
- Attend all relevant Spence employee meetings and professional development

Requirement:
- Experience in K to 6 classroom/group setting, particularly with group management of children ages 5 to 12, or other relevant experience with young children
This is a part-time hourly position daily from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. beginning immediately and ending in mid-June, excluding school holidays, and pays $24 - $27 per hour.
