Summary:
The Lead Learning Specialist coordinates the work of the Lower, Middle, and Upper School learning specialists. He/she works in conjunction with counselors, health services, athletics, academic deans, deans of students, and division heads. He/she supervises the Testing Room Coordinator. Candidates should understand Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart’s mission and act in a manner consistent with the vision of the Society of the Sacred Heart. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative and exhibit strong interpersonal skills. Experience across divisions with all ages is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support students with different learning needs through intervention.
- Coordinate with parents and outside professionals to support students’ individual learning needs.
- Work collaboratively to empower students with different learning needs.
- Coordinate a team of learning specialists across divisions
- reviewing psychoeducational documentation and developing formal data-supported accommodation plans as needed.
- ensuring consistent support plans, protocols, and documentation requirements for all division levels.
- reinforcing consistent all-school digital charting and documentation.
- collecting and examining data to improve student support.
- Serve as the SSD (Services for Students with Disabilities) Coordinator.
- Supervise a testing room coordinator and testing room procedures, offering students with accommodations an equitable testing environment and documenting student access to accommodations.
- Coordinate standardized testing schoolwide.
- Assist with planning and marketing of practice tests, and other department events.
- Meet with faculty at grade level meetings to inform recommendations and present proactive strategies.
- Provide information and referrals for families in need of counseling, evaluation, or other appropriate resources outside the school.
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
- Master of Education, Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work and degree or certifications in working with students with learning differences preferred or desire to obtain such certifications.
- Experience in a PreK – 12 environment, preferably in independent schools.
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies and differentiated approaches to learning.
- Leadership experience, building trust among colleagues.
- Strong references to convey abilities.
