Distinguished Scholars Program Director
Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Distinguished Scholars Program Director to begin in August 2024. Under the guidance of the Director of The Bush Center, the Distinguished Scholars Program Director is responsible for the development, administration, and implementation of all facets of the Distinguished Scholars Program, including recruiting students for the program, teacher training, community events, and curriculum development of lessons. The DSP Director will provide oversight of all program courses, deliver the daily instruction for assigned classes, and work in collaboration with the Director of the BCSL for the Distinguished Scholars Program. The Director will provide vision for HC’s Distinguished Scholars Program, develop new initiatives, as appropriate to further the mission of HC, and enhance the student experience and training in the program. This is a full-time, exempt, 10 1/2 month position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree, Master’s Degree, preferred.
- Teacher certification or equivalent, preferred.
- Classroom experience required. Experience in high school and with gifted and talented students preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and articulate vision for a program and implement the vision with a track record of success.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of research methodology and the writing process and able to mentor and guide a senior thesis, or direct a student research group.
- Strong work ethic, energetic and enthusiastic, flexible
- Ability to manage and motivate DSP faculty
- Strong communication and public relations skills with ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of administration, both internal and external to the school, parents and collegiate personnel.
- Ability to build strong relationships with teachers and support personnel with a collaborative leadership style.
- Possess strong organizational skills and ability to manage several groups and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage budgets.
- Proficient in basic technology applications, specifically Google Apps knowledge (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
- Represent the school to the community and prospective students and collaborate with the Admissions office for DSP admissions.

Qualified candidates must be skilled and have a passion for the instruction, oversight, and development of the Distinguished Scholars Program. The successful candidate will be energetic and creative and possess a vision for excellence at the high school level, a strong work ethic, and a desire to achieve success, as evidenced by growth in the program. Contribution to the life of the school outside the classroom is expected. Occasional after school, evening or weekend hours will be necessary.
