Assistant Athletic Trainer
The Assistant Athletic Trainer performs responsible program building including planning and assisting in managing and directing the athletic training program.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Head Athletic Trainer to develop plans and schedule for providing athletic training coverage at all practices and interscholastic athletic events.
- Perform athletic training evaluation and treatment of a variety of injuries.
- Recommend and supervise rehabilitation programs for student-athletes
- Assist with home and away event athletic training coverage
- Communicate with students and families regarding injuries, evaluations, treatment, and rehab programs
- Teach Physical Education classes
General Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate documentation of injuries, evaluations, treatment, and rehab programs.
- Establish a working relationship with school nursing staff
- Maintain and update athletic training room equipment
- Build relationships with local universities who partner and provide AT students
Qualifications and Expectations
- Must be BOC certified and possess state athletic training licensure, certification or registration.
- Have transportation to get themselves to off-site practices and contests
- Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff, and families
- Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines
- Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends
- Ability to carry 50 pounds
- Ability to be outside for prolonged periods of time in a variety of weather conditions
- Willingness to be van and golf car trained
