ABOUT THE POSITION
Gann Academy is seeking a part-time English teacher for Spring 2025 (January 27 June 20). The teacher's responsibilities will include planning and delivering lessons for two sections of 11th-grade American Literature.
Successful candidates will have a passion for English education, a strong background in classroom teaching, curriculum design, and pedagogy, and a commitment to collaborating, reflecting, and growing in their teaching practice. Personal qualities such as creativity, curiosity, perseverance, and flexibility are key, as are effective communication skills with students and families.
This is an in-person, part-time position from January 27 to June 20, 2025, and will report to the Director of Humanities.
January 25-26 will be in-person workdays for onboarding and preparation. Second-semester classes begin January 27. 50-minute classes are on a rotating schedule from 8:30 to 3:55 Monday through Thursday, with an earlier 1:50 release on Fridays. School is closed for vacation from February 17-21 and April 11-18.
Compensation for this part-time position is $22,000 - $25,000, commensurate with relevant work experience and qualifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teaching Duties:
Teach 2 sections of English 11: American Literature.
Assess student work and provide grades.
Take attendance and manage the classroom.
Offer differentiated instruction to serve a wide range of learners.
Collaborate with colleagues to plan and adapt curriculum and lessons that support student growth.
Use technology and other educational tools to support student learning.
Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in person and via email.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands include dexterity in operating office machines and supplies, including, but not limited to, computers, telephones, electronic calculators, copy machines, and printers. Stooping, bending, reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time are common.
