Job Summary:  

The Technology Helpdesk Technician (THT) is primarily responsible for end-user technology support to the New Hampton School community.  

Job Status:  The THT position is a full-time, year-round hourly non-exempt position with benefits in accordance with School policy. Flexibility in schedule due to implementation/distribution projects, for example, is at the discretion of the Director of Technology (DOT).

Specific Duties (including but not limited to):

End-user Support:

• Provide support for requests made of the Technology department via walk-in, telephone call, e-mail or Helpdesk tickets for issues related to projectors, Apple laptops, Apple iPads, Apple desktop computers and other school-owned, end-user technologies.  
• Priority is given to educational technology needs (classroom technology, faculty needs). 
• Provide support for printers and copiers.
• Meet with each department at least quarterly to maintain open communication with the team.

Documentation & Training: 

• Assist with creation and maintenance of technical documentation pertaining to End-user Support as defined above, and other areas needing attention as specified by the DOT.
• Document procedures used to achieve success in other areas of this Job Description; for example, but not limited to, Hardware Deployment, common support issues, FAQs for employees and also students.
• Offer training, in-person or remote, to improve user effectiveness.
• Create training videos for common tasks and procedures.

Maintain Technology Inventory:

• Create purchase orders for new equipment and supplies for approval by the DOT.
• Inventory new equipment; apply stickers, labels, and/or cases to new equipment.
• Using the TEC-BASE FileMaker database, maintain an accurate inventory of the technology assets of New Hampton School including projectors, iPads, laptops, desktops, cables, infrastructure hardware, etc.
  •  Audit this inventory annually or as directed by the DOT.
  •  Maintain records of all purchase orders, invoices, packing lists, warranties, etc. 

Hardware Deployment and Maintenance:

• Perform the following, or supervise other employees assisting with these processes:
  • Inventory new hardware arrivals. 
  • Clean and service school-owned technology assets to maintain functionality and value.
• Work with the Technology Systems Specialist (TSS) to return leased equipment to the appropriate vendor and perform asset disposition responsibilities as needed.  
• Support the successful implementation of the NHS 1:1 iPad Program. 
  • Perform the initial set up of student iPads and accessories. 
  • Perform and document technology repairs.

•  High School Diploma 
• Similar work experience or internship experience preferred
• Work experience or personal technology experience in primarily Apple environments preferred 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills preferred 
• Ability to collaborate closely as part of a team including the DOT and TSS 
• Strong organizational ability and time management skills • High level of enthusiasm for working with adolescents 
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment 
• Ability to adhere to attendance requirements and deadlines 
• Self-motivation and independence 
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, reaching; and possess the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. 
• Maintain confidentiality as needed
• Successfully complete a criminal background check and motor vehicle background check
