Lowell School, a progressive school of approximately 315 students in NW Washington, DC, seeks a School Health Coordinator beginning at the start of the 2024–2025 academic year. This is a twelve month position. The Health Coordinator reports to the Assistant Head of School.
The Health Coordinator is responsible for implementing the school health program, assisting with student well-being, completing health related tasks and other related work as required.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) license, , and/or
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or similar degree, and/or
EMT with a 4 year college degree
CPR/AED program certification
Knowledge of children’s intellectual, social and emotional skills
Flexibility with schedule

Ability to record, interpret and explain records, reports, activities, healthcare plans, accommodations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintain student health records, reviews records of entering students for immunizations, ensures all components of the School Health Entrance Requirements are complete and up to date.
Ensure that the school is in compliance with DC Health and OSSE licensing requirements
Inform administrators and school personnel about students with health issues, in compliance with medical privacy regulations.
Administer medications and manage illnesses and injuries in coordination with each individual student.
Communicate with parents of ill students; assist ill students as needed until parent arrives.
Perform clerical duties including typing, filing and related school nurse functions.
Track student illness, notifying appropriate parties of communicable diseases and providing health updates to the community as necessary.
Maintain a health office in clean, orderly and safe condition with attention to confidential information and inventory management.
With consent, advise administrators, teachers, and staff of students with food allergies; develop or obtain care plans for students with food allergies.
Prepare medical information, materials and forms for field trips.
Serve as the health expert and health advocate for staff, students and families at Lowell School.
Perform other health related duties as assigned by the Assistant Head of School.
Maintain ownership of healthcare and related databases.
Coordinate, manage, and track the campus wide CPR and Bloodborne pathogen training
Coordinate, manage, and track staff training for the administration of medications
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
Long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

The Expected Salary Range: $85,000 - $92,000
