Villa Academy seeks a full-time Middle School Math Teacher to join its team beginning August 20, 2024. This educator will be teaching our math curriculum to students in grades Sixth through Eighth. This role offers the opportunity to apply Villa’s commitment to inquiry-based teaching and learning through student-centered projects and experiential learning across our beautiful campus. This is a ten-month, exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Middle School.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, student-centered individual eager to share their experience, enthusiasm, and expertise in independent school middle grades math education. They will inspire students, faculty/staff, and families to learn and grow, and will enjoy working within a team setting of shared ideas and constructive feedback. They will lead with great initiative and cultural humility and have keen problem-solving and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach multiple sections of Middle School Math and one section of Middle School Advisory, to students in grades Sixth through Eighth.
Plan and implement inquiry-based lesson plans that align with Villa Academy Math curriculum standards.
Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
Regularly assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
Collaborate with Lower School and Middle School teaching teams to share best practices and improve instructional strategies, building a cohesive, whole-school Math program.
Cultivate a classroom community amongst a small, grade-specific advisory group utilizing Villa Academy’s social-emotional learning curriculum.
Effectively partner and communicate with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
Participate in faculty/staff, grade level, and division meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
Commit to the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or teaching credential preferred.
3+ years of Math teaching experience, preferably with Middle School students.
Strong knowledge of Math, Middle School mathematics learning, and technology integration.
Experience with standards-based assessments.
Knowledge of differentiated instruction techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Ability to utilize effective classroom support strategies and positive relationship-building practices
Appreciation and enjoyment of middle school students and an understanding of their learning and development.
Excitement for STEAM-focused, interdisciplinary, project-based learning.
Proficiency with instructional technology including document cameras, interactive whiteboards, web-based learning software, and Google apps.
Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Anticipated salary ranges between $51,501.73 – 118,430.02/year, dependent upon education and experience.
