Garrison Forest seeks a Spanish teacher with a passion for teaching Preschool through Grade 5 and enthusiasm to work with a dedicated world language department team. This long-term substitute position would begin in early October and end in late December.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Garrison Forest Lower School seeks a full-time Spanish teacher who can support and promote the mission and philosophy of the School. Duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Teach multiple grades in the Lower Division (Preschool-5th)
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter with an emphasis on speaking, reading, and writing in the target language
Create vertically aligned curriculum maps for K-5, utilizing ACTFL guidelines
Evaluate, promote and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning
Develop lessons to differentiate for different learning styles
Demonstrate experience shaping curricula and pedagogy that reinforces equity in teaching and learning
Work alongside the Lower Division Administrative team to build a meaningful learning experience for students
Work alongside grade level teams to build cross-curricular connections and interdisciplinary projects
Create a secure and stimulating environment in which students grow in both autonomy and the ability to work and interact together
Take responsibility for being a role model by maintaining an environment that fosters respect among students and colleagues
Qualifications:
B.A. degree or equivalent – Master’s degree desirable
Spanish language fluency
Prior experience working with children in a school
