San Diego Jewish Academy is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to fill a dual-role position as an Interdisciplinary Educator/Lab Specialist and Administrative Assistant. This role supports both the administrative operations of the school and the STEM education of students in grades 2-5.
Develop and implement interdisciplinary science lessons that align with curriculum standards and integrate concepts from various subject areas.
Collaborate with general studies teachers to design and deliver co-taught lessons that enhance the understanding of scientific principles through interdisciplinary methods.
Co-teach STEM and science classes for grades 2-5, providing hands-on support and instruction.
Laboratory Management:
Oversee the organization and maintenance of the science lab, ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment.
Prepare and set up laboratory experiments and demonstrations to support hands-on learning experiences.
Guide students in conducting experiments, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions, with an emphasis on the scientific method and critical thinking.
Administrative Assistant (40% FTE)
General Administration:
Provide administrative support to school leadership during designated office hours.
Handle phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries from parents, students, and staff with professionalism and courtesy.
Assist with school communications, including newsletters, announcements, and notices.
Maintain and update the school’s database and information systems, ensuring the security and confidentiality of student and staff information.
Accounting:
Assist with basic accounting tasks, including processing invoices, tracking expenses, and managing budgets using tools like Google applications, Admin+, FMX, and Concur.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field preferred.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with interdisciplinary teaching or a passion for STEM education preferred
Proficiency in basic accounting practices and familiarity with tools like Google applications
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong commitment to maintaining the security and confidentiality of student and staff information.

Compensation:
The anticipated starting salary for this position is $48,347.80. The offer to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and years of experience; training; practical knowledge; and education.
