Overview
The Kew-Forest School is a co-educational independent day school located in Forest Hills, Queens, New York that serves a diverse population of approximately 185 students in Preschool (3-year-olds) through Grade 12. Founded in 1918, Kew-Forest is the longest-serving college preparatory school in Queens. Our community nurtures lifelong learners, our educators inspire young people, and our students support each other.
Kew-Forest is proud to enroll an astonishingly diverse student body representative of Queens and New York City, including approximately nine percent of whom are international students. The Kew-Forest School promotes diversity in its hiring process and is committed to supporting its inclusive community by hiring culturally diverse faculty to work with our equally diverse students and families. At Kew-Forest, our mission is to do more than just educate—it is to deeply inspire. The Kew-Forest School is embarking on an exciting new chapter as it enters its 107th year of operation. The individual who joins our community to fill this position must be energetic, creative, imaginative, and thoughtful in their approach to after school programming as the School enters its era of Kew-Forest 2.0.
To serve our community's need for a safe and exciting end to the school day, we offer our Afterschool Care Program (“Afterschool”) to children entering grades Pre K-6. The Afterschool Program is designed to meet the needs of Kew-Forest families who are interested in a safe, secure, and enriching environment in which their children can grow socially, physically, emotionally, and academically after school. The Afterschool Program includes optional Mini-Course activities such as Chess, Legos, Drama, etc. We also offer morning care for parents who might need to drop their child off before the school day begins. Engage children during morning care from 7:30 am - 8:00 am (e.g., engage in and supervise free play, board games, etc.) in the gymnasium and escort them to their classrooms for the beginning of the school day.
