Harbor School is seeking a Middle School Math Teacher to begin August 21, 2024.This position is at least half time but can also be a full time position - there is flexibility for the right candidate.

Harbor School is located on Vashon Island, just a 20 minute ferry ride away from Seattle, Washington. We are a close knit community and knowing and valuing our students and families is an important aspect of our program. Aside from traditional classroom learning, Harbor School emphasizes learning opportunities outside of the classroom including service learning, travel learning and outdoor education. The Math Teacher will support our Middle School travel study program by assisting with planning and chaperoning school trips.
DESCRIPTION:
The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing instructional programming that promotes the academic, social-emotional, and physical growth of students in middle school math classes, in alignment with the mission of the Harbor School and International Baccalaureate MYP Standards (training on this will be provided).
The middle school math teacher works closely with colleagues and is responsible for the following:
Working closely with colleagues and the Head of School, s/he:
integrates research-based, best practices and appropriate educational technology to support and differentiate instruction;
encourages and monitors the progress of students and communicates regularly with students’ families about their progress;
Participates in planning and curriculum development including developing and implementing cross curricular units of studies
participates in faculty meetings and professional development programming;
supports the school’s strategic, retention, and recruiting efforts through committee work and admissions events;
and adheres to the expectations outlined in the Faculty Handbook and fulfills other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required; teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements preferred
Successful middle school math teaching experience preferred
Teaching experience in independent schools preferred but not necessary
Experience in an IB School a plus
