About the position: This hourly full-time positionassists the Chef preparing meals for employee lunch and other events. Scheduled hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexibility. Occasional night and weekend hours may also be available. Normally the position begins in August and ends in mid-June, depending on the schedule of the school, but summer work in the Facilities department may be available.
Responsibilities:
Assist in food preparation for daily faculty/staff lunches, student snacks, meetings and events
Assist in food service/presentation to faculty/staff and event attendees, including setting up tables, setting up buffet stations, and passing hors d’oeuvres at catered functions
Responsible for kitchen clean up, including clearing food and washing dishes, utensils, pots and pans
Maintain daily faculty/staff beverage service
Maintain all kitchen policies and standards in absence of Chef
Clean and maintain all machines and other equipment used in carrying out kitchen/maintenance duties
Store all kitchen/maintenance supplies and equipment in a safe and organized manner
Assist in ordering supplies as appropriate

Qualifications:
Minimum of one year successful kitchen experience in a restaurant or catering atmosphere preferred
Knife skills very important
Food background with ability to substitute and improvise with recipes preferred
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends during school year preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and shelve items required
Ability to read and communicate orally in English
