The Webb School seeks a full-time Middle School History Teacher for an immediate opening for the duration of the 2024-2025 school year. The Webb School’s teachers are living examples of the mission of the school and embrace its Enduring Understandings.
Job Responsibilities:
Teach 5 sections within the History department- 6th and 7th grade history, and one section of ELL History
Serve as an advisor to 10-12 students
Serve in the school’s afternoon enrichment or athletic program
Serve as a support to the residential program as a day faculty with occasional weekend duty
Sponsor a co-curricular club during the school day for one semester
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts in History, or equivalent; a Master’s degree is preferred
Experience working with middle school students
Experience in a boarding school is preferred but not required
A commitment to culturally responsive teaching
Desire to be actively engaged in all aspects of a boarding school
Must have permission to work in the United States

A love for teaching middle school students is essential to this position
Teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, problem-solving skills, and congeniality are essential
Well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, coworkers, and parents
Provides continual assessment of student progress and communicates academic performance through the use of reports and online grade books
Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field and uses this to ensure relevant lessons
Adjusts teaching methods to suit different groups of learners
Analyzes the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students and structures lessons and assessments around them
Brings an awareness of best practices in curriculum and uses this in planning coursework
Ability to regularly work flexible hours to support before and after school or weekend events
