Position Summary The Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Athlete Success reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for cultivating and fostering a successful student-athlete experience at the Pingry School. They will work cross functionally with various departments in the School community to ensure overall student-athlete success by developing and promoting a healthy, positive, and supportive environment for our athletes in the interest of establishing a championship culture. This position has the opportunity to potentially coach one season.
Responsibilities
Own and execute the nuts and bolts of creating a healthy and supportive student-athlete experience.
Build and maintain strong relationships with coaches, parents, and student-athletes.
Lead DEIB and well-being efforts in the athletic community by partnering cross functionally with DEIB, CAST, Sports Medicine and Sports Psychology departments on student-athlete development, PSAAC, and team captain training.
Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing department to enhance and promote the Pingry Athletics brand by assisting with social media storytelling and providing up-to-date content.
Drive increased attendance at games and school spirit through partnership with PSPA, PSAAC and innovative programming.
Manage team resources related to the student-athlete experience including, but not limited to, equipment, uniforms, and spirit wear.
Conduct research and collaborate with Coaches to access equipment and apparel needs.
Develop, implement, and evaluate brand management plans and strategies for uniforms, logos, and word mark usage in partnership with the Athletics team.
Oversee fulfillment of equipment and apparel contracts to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Represent Pingry Athletics department with external organizations and vendors related to equipment, apparel, merchandise, and branding. Sources, obtains quotes and negotiates with vendors.
Coordinate team rosters.
Organize and execute all purchasing for equipment across all teams/sports, including on-field equipment (i.e. goals, bases, benches, etc.).
Provide secondary support for athletic scheduling using Veracross and Finalsite.
Maintain record-keeping and personal and team awards.
Act in lieu of Athletic Director for coaches communication, crisis management, game day emergencies as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation and communication skills.
Ability to see around corners and anticipate ongoing needs of students and team development.
Fantastic relationship-builder who can work well cross functionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
Familiarity with diversity, inclusion, and leadership development, as well as proficient with facilitation and programming.
Experience as a NCAA, NAIA Athletic Administrator or student-athlete.
Team player with a can-do attitude and collaborative spirit.
Experience collaborating with high-profile coaches.
Ability to walk and stand for long periods while performing various job duties during the course of a regular day. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is required, although it may be obtained after an offer of employment has been extended.
Comfortable with incorporating the latest technology into your workflow, including Zoom, Veracross, and Finalsite.
Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
Experience creating, supporting, and sustaining a culture of access and equity in Pingry athletics.
