Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a maternity leave Occupational Therapist to work with students in Grades 6 to 9 for hire from August 2024 - February 2025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Work collaboratively with the lower school and upper school teams including teachers, other related service providers and specialists to plan and implement services related to our students’ curriculum, units of study, projects and activities
Plan and implement innovative and targeted treatment sessions for pull out/push in models, including small group, large group, or whole class
Write daily treatment notes and semiannual report cards
Consult with teachers and provide recommendations regarding classroom accommodations and modifications
Conduct initial evaluations and ongoing assessments across a variety of settings to determine occupational therapy treatment plan
Purchase and organize occupational therapy equipment and supplies
Engage in interdisciplinary meetings, department meetings and the IEP process
Provide deeper understanding of occupational therapy to Churchill community
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
BA or BS Degree in Occupational Therapy
MA or MS Degree in Occupational Therapy
NYS License and Registration
Expertise in providing fine motor, graphomotor, gross motor, visual-perceptual, executive-functioning and sensory interventions
Ability to respond strategically and innovatively to adjust service delivery model
Outstanding collaboration skills
Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective service strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
Strong communication skills (written, verbal) required for reports, daily notes, and dialogue with school professionals and families
Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology
Patience, flexibility, creativity, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
$70K-95K (annual salary) commensurate with experience
