Math Teacher (including AP) Needed for High School at Springfield Commonwealth Academy Location: Springfield Commonwealth Academy, 1 Ames Hill Dr, Springfield, MA 01105 Position: Full-Time and Part-Time Math including AP Courses Start Date: September, 2024
Springfield Commonwealth Academy is in search of an outstanding math teacher with a passion for teaching high school students in grades 9–12, especially Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Our Springfield-based institution takes great pleasure in offering a top-notch education that equips students for success in junior and senior high school education. We are seeking an individual that is fervent about encouraging kids to pursue advanced mathematics and succeed.
Responsibilities:
Create and present engaging lesson plans that satisfy AP Mathematics course (Precalculus, Calculus and Statistics) requirements as well as the SCA curriculum and frameworks aligned with Massachusetts State for high schools.
Use a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate the various demands and learning preferences of students
In order to uphold high academic standards, evaluate and assess student progress in a timely and thorough manner and offer constructive evaluation and feedback
Establish and preserve a respectful, concentrated, and learning-friendly classroom atmosphere
Use effective classroom management strategies to create a welcoming and productive learning environment.
Work together with coworkers, parents, and the larger school community to improve the learning and wellness of your students.
Take part in events and activities that are held for the entire school and continue your professional growth.
Promote an innovative, inquisitive, and critical thinking culture in the field of mathematics.
Implement interventions for students who struggle with the taught and tested curriculum
Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enable each student to achieve learning objectives
Provide a safe and optimal learning environment; set excellent standards for academic success and classroom behavior
Plan to be accessible to parents and students for education-related matters outside of assigned tasks; and provide feedback to parents, students, and administration regarding goals, expectations, and other aspects of the students' progress.
Understand and effectively convey SCA’s philosophy, vision and mission.
Develop reasonable rules of behavior and procedure in the classroom.
Participate in school management and share responsibility for the overall program.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree education, mathematics, or a relevant discipline.
Holds a Massachusetts teaching license (preferred) with a deep and wide aptitude for teaching and instructing AP courses in high school.
A track record of success in high school math education, with a preference for those with experience in instructing AP courses.
An outstanding capacity to create a supportive, stimulating learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish a good rapport with parents, staff, and students.
A dedication to both professional development and high standards for education.
