Position: Part-Time Music and Choir Teacher for High School
Start Date: ASAP
Springfield Commonwealth Academy, a dynamic school in the state of Massachusetts, is in search of an enthusiastic and committed High School Music and Choir Teacher to join our team. The ideal applicant will have experience teaching both classic and modern musical forms, and they will have a strong foundation in the field. This is a fantastic chance to help young musicians develop in a motivating and encouraging learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Create and execute a thorough music program that aligns with SCA’s curriculum and Massachusetts’ Arts Framework. Teach high school students about music with interactive and interesting lessons that cover performance techniques, ensemble and vocal skills, history, and music theory.
Create a welcoming and inclusive learning atmosphere in the classroom that encourages collaboration, creativity, and appreciation for the many styles of music. Assist students in realizing their greatest potential by acting as a mentor and role model for them while they travel the musical path.
Oversee and lead the school choir program, which includes practices, competitions, and performances. Offer tailored guidance and assistance to students with diverse musical aptitudes and inclinations
To improve music education and student learning as well as make use of technology and multimedia tools. Provide regular updates on student progress and programmatic initiatives to parents, administrators, and other stakeholders through communication.
Engage in professional development activities to stay up to date on the most effective teaching and learning strategies in music education.
Understand and effectively convey SCA’s philosophy, vision, and mission.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree, preferably a master's degree, in music education or a comparable profession.
A current music education teaching certification or license is preferred (a Massachusetts certification is highly desirable).
High School music teaching experience is highly favored
A broad range of musical instruments and vocal skills should be played and taught with a strong background in music instruction, history, and theory.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate learners from a variety of backgrounds and learning preferences.
The ability to collaborate with coworkers, administrators, parents, and community members has been demonstrated.
Dedication to creating a welcoming, inclusive learning environment that prioritizes fairness, diversity, and cultural sensitivity.
The capacity to successfully use technology in program administration and music instruction.
A sincere passion for empowering young artists to realize their full potential and a sincere desire to inspire and educate music.
