At EBI the teachers’ main goal is guiding the students through the different learning processes involved with various subjects and/or skills as defined in EBI curricula, thus contributing to the students development as mature, capable and responsible world citizens.
The Teacher position reports directly to the Director of Auxiliary Programs
RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Management
Develops aftercare activities to meet the academic, physical, and socio-emotional needs of all learners
Plans aftercare activities and projects that are engaging and age-appropriate
Presents classroom/outdoor procedures and expectations with clarity
Supports students in following classroom procedures, implementing them consistently using positive discipline strategies
Assists in supporting positive behavior of students effectively
Supervises student behavior and promotes the development of self-management skills
Actively monitors students engaged in independent work, group projects, or similar activities, ensuring respect for classmates and materials
Actively monitors outdoor time with a focus on safety, cooperative play, and fun
Observation and compliance with record keeping
Confers with classroom Guides about individual student needs
Participates in individual student action plans, implementing activities and recording progress under direction of classroom Guides
Care of the Environment
Rotates the materials available to students
Report need for repairs or replaces broken classroom materials and equipment in a timely fashion and ensures that learning materials are in good order and ready for student use each day
Engages students in clean-up of the environment at the end of the day
Communication
Communicates and interacts regularly and appropriately with students, parents, and staff, maintaining collaborative relationships
Meets regularly with other members of the Aventura team, engaging in planning of activities and discussion of student’s needs
Attends and actively participates in all required staff meetings and events
Keeps confidential information about students and families confidential at all times
Miscellaneous
Maintains all professional certifications necessary, including yearly CPR/First Aid certification
Seeks opportunities for professional development
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and requirements:

BA or AA in education or related field
Speak, read and write in Spanish and English
A minimum of 2 years experience working as an after-school teacher, teaching assistant, or a similar role.
Escuela Bilingüe Internacional (EBI) is an independent co-educational dayschool located in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland of the San Francisco Bay Area. EBI is authorized by the International Baccalaureate to offer the Primary Years Programme. The school offers a Spanish-English dual language program, extending from pre-K through 8th grade. EBI opened its doors in September 2006, with preschool and kindergarten.
