Stone Ridge is seeking a Long-Term Upper School Science Substitute to begin in November 2024. 

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 750 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

The Upper School Science Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for:

• teaching in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.
• teaching 2 sections of Biology and 2 sections of AP Environmental Science
• teaching the upper level life science courses with an emphasis inquiry-based labs. 
• attending meetings and maintaining good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.

Requirements:

• a degree in one of the subject areas or a related field and a strong depth of knowledge in the discipline subject area.
• ability and willingness to collaborate with colleagues in the Science Department and throughout the Upper School.
• open to potential collaboration with Learning Strategists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and Counselors to develop strategies to support all students, if necessary.
