Position: The After School Counselor is responsible for helping to maintain a safe, engaging, and enriching after-school and student support programming. They ensure a high level of mission-driven, individualized and group programming.
The After School Counselor serves as a positive role model and ensures positive experiences and outcomes for all children.
Responsibilities:
· Provide high-quality afterschool care to children.
· Build relationships with parents, children, and the school administrators/teachers.
· Maintain procedures that ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and community members.
· Assist the Extended Day Coordinator in creating and maintaining student-centric, well-organized, effective, and aesthetically pleasing learning environments.
· Support children's emotional needs and/or challenges in a developmentally appropriate and non-judgmental manner.
· Develop and maintain open and appropriate communication with parents: students, volunteers, and school staff.
· Provide onsite direct daily communication with the families, students, and care providers to foster connection and address daily needs.
· Work effectively to establish positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and families.
· Provide activity planning and resources for afterschool and faculty childcare programming.
· Serve as a homework support resource in the afterschool program.
· Assist with administrative support and coverage as needed.
· Support the Extended Day Coordinator with the arrivals and dismissals, program administration, and reports. Including accurate and comprehensive lists, permissions, attendance, and parent support.
· Perform other duties as assigned

Two or more yar experience working in afterschool, camp, or group childcare.
Knowledge of child development, safety standards, and activity planning a plus.
Ability to lift 25 pounds
