Teaching Responsibilities:

At The Benjamin School, we believe that good teachers set high standards for their students and then do everything they can to help them achieve those standards.  We are looking for teachers who will help our students become self-directed, independent learners with superior academic collegiate skills.

The ideal candidate will be able to incorporate multiple styles of teaching and use varied approaches to introducing skills and content.  This person must have a desire to work with students in a challenging, college-preparatory environment and should possess strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate a passion for science, an intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, the ability to work within a team, skills to engage and inspire students in the pursuit of learning, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

The biology teacher will teach three sections of AP Biology and two sections of AP Environmental Science.

General Professional Qualifications:

The most desirable candidates will have the following background or comparable experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in science
• Experience as an AP Biology or AP Environmental Science teacher at an Upper School-level college preparatory program 
• An ability and desire to teach and learn with peers in departmental and interdepartmental settings
• Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
• Willingness to create a student-centered classroom
• Desire to work as part of a team
• Collegiality and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues on advancing the school’s strategic initiatives
• Interest and experience in interacting with students outside of the classroom in co-curricular activities: sports, arts, social service, etc.

Compensation:  $15,000 - $20,000 based on experience and education
