St. Paul’s School is actively searching for a passionate and dedicated individual to assume the position of Assistant Coach of the Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team. As the Assistant Coach, the selected candidate will join the Head Coach in leading and developing the high school lacrosse program within the unique environment of a boarding school.
This position is a part time position that runs from mid-March through the first week of June. Other coaching opportunities within the department may be available for interested candidates throughout the year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Be present at all daily practices and games during the season. -Alongside Head Coach, create and execute effective training sessions that considers the demanding schedules of boarding school students. -Work with Head Coach to develop game plans and strategies accommodating the travel and competition schedules unique to boarding school athletics. -Provide in-game coaching, feedback, and adjustments while instilling a strong sense of sportsmanship and fair play. -Promote a positive and inclusive team culture extending beyond the playing field, contributing to the overall boarding school community. -Mentor and guide student-athletes in character development, emphasizing values such as integrity, responsibility, and respect. -Maintain open and transparent communication with players, parents, school administration. -Work alongside Head Coach in identifying talent, player eval, and engaging new families throughout the season. -Other duties may be assigned.
Coaching Experience and Certification:
-Demonstrate prior coaching experience in lacrosse at the youth, high school and/or college level, showcasing a track record of success in player development and program growth. -Possess USA Lacrosse certification or an equivalent coaching certification recommended ensuring a strong foundation in coaching principles and safety protocols. -Experience in coaching club program teams, displaying an ability to navigate the dynamics of different player backgrounds and skill levels.
Qualifications:
-Thorough knowledge of lacrosse rules, strategies, and player development principles. -Strong leadership and communication skills, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities presented in a boarding school context. -Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes, fostering a sense of pride and commitment to both their team and the boarding school community. -Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, aligning with the values of the boarding school. -Experience in building and maintaining relationships with local lacrosse youth club teams. -Relevant certifications and training in coaching.
