Position Summary
The Pingry School seeks qualified substitute educators for the 2024-2025 school year. The Upper School Per-Diem Substitute Teacher role requires in-person instruction on our Basking Ridge, New Jersey campus with students in Grades 9-12 on a per-diem basis. A flexible schedule is necessary to accommodate our 7-day drop day Upper School academic rotation.
This position on our Basking Ridge, New Jersey campus and the per-diem compensation is $140 per day.
Responsibilities
- Willing to be contacted for coverage on the morning of placement.
- Must be able to work the full school day from 7:50am to 3:30pm.
- Support the teacher by implementing the daily curriculum for the assigned grade level.
- Create and maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
- Hold students to high academic and behavior standards consistent with The Pingry School Mission and Honor Code.
- Hold students accountable during class time, transitions, meals, recess time, and other learning opportunities that may be assigned to the substitute educator.
- Collaborate with other teachers to ensure a safe environment for all students.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s Degree and previous classroom teaching experience are preferred, and will consider senior year undergraduate work.
- Enthusiasm for working with students.
- Experience working with high school aged students.
- Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
- Ability to work with students both in-person and virtually.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty.
- Comfort with incorporating the latest technology into your workflow, including Google Classroom and Zoom.
- Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the department and school community, including working hours based upon the school’s rotating schedule.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and pillars of the Pingry School, including a commitment to DEIB and the requisite skills to work cross-functionally with diverse constituency groups across the organization.
