Position Summary The Pingry School seeks qualified substitute educators for the 2024-2025 school year. The Upper School Per-Diem Substitute Teacher role requires in-person instruction on our Basking Ridge, New Jersey campus with students in Grades 9-12 on a per-diem basis. A flexible schedule is necessary to accommodate our 7-day drop day Upper School academic rotation.
This position on our Basking Ridge, New Jersey campus and the per-diem compensation is $140 per day.
Responsibilities
Willing to be contacted for coverage on the morning of placement.
Must be able to work the full school day from 7:50am to 3:30pm.
Support the teacher by implementing the daily curriculum for the assigned grade level.
Create and maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
Hold students to high academic and behavior standards consistent with The Pingry School Mission and Honor Code.
Hold students accountable during class time, transitions, meals, recess time, and other learning opportunities that may be assigned to the substitute educator.
Collaborate with other teachers to ensure a safe environment for all students.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s Degree and previous classroom teaching experience are preferred, and will consider senior year undergraduate work.
Enthusiasm for working with students.
Experience working with high school aged students.
Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
Ability to work with students both in-person and virtually.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty.
Comfort with incorporating the latest technology into your workflow, including Google Classroom and Zoom.
Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the department and school community, including working hours based upon the school’s rotating schedule.
Commitment to the mission, vision, and pillars of the Pingry School, including a commitment to DEIB and the requisite skills to work cross-functionally with diverse constituency groups across the organization.
