The Hotchkiss School, an independent coeducational boarding school of 600 students, seeks an exceptional and experienced professional to serve as the School’s Associate Director of Alumni Engagement. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for creating and implementing programming designed to engage and inform alumni and other School constituents. The Associate Director is part of a team of four professionals and must be committed to working collaboratively with colleagues across all areas of the School, including Alumni and Development, Communications, Admissions, faculty, and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and implement the annual Hotchkiss Reunion program; responsible for coordinating and implementing all aspects of the multi-class celebration in June, including recruitment and support of all Reunion Planning Committee volunteers in conjunction with members of The Hotchkiss Fund.
Support the 50th reunion in the fall, and manage and implement any other any other reunions that take place in the fall (typically one to three post-50th classes return).
Create and implement a career networking strategy, including the branding and growth of online platforms and groups, and the implementation of networking events in key markets.
Create and implement the Alumni Relations student strategy, in collaboration with The Hotchkiss Fund.
Plan and implement other branded alumni events in collaboration with the Director and other Alumni Engagement staff, including but not limited to events associated with affinity groups, social receptions, and other events as requested.
Manage a small portfolio of alumni with the goal of learning more about their affinity toward Hotchkiss, current interests, and if they would like to engage more with the School.
Travel for off-campus events (as needed) and for other meetings with alumni.
Participate in on-campus activities and programs.
Create and contribute to a work environment of openness, candor, and mutual respect.
Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of experience or a combination of education and work experience in the related field.
Substantial experience in event coordination.
Volunteer management experience preferred.
Superlative interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization. Strong personal integrity and work ethic, as well as a sense of humor and perspective.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, solid decision-making skills, and problem-solving when they arise.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
Proficient in Windows 7/10, Microsoft Office 2010/2016.
Proficient with office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail and online calendar management.
Experience with database management is a plus.
Alumnus/a of The Hotchkiss School or working knowledge of institutions similar to Hotchkiss preferred.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
Office environment.
At events, a significant amount of time standing/walking.
Occasional bending, reaching, stooping.
Repetitive motion (use of computer keyboard).
Periodic needs to carry boxes (up to 50 lbs.), move tables and chairs, hang signs, and other similar tasks for events.
