The Loomis Chaffee School seeks a dean of enrollment to oversee the school’s recruitment, admission, financial aid, and enrollment/re-enrollment processes. The dean is a member of the senior administrative team and reports directly to the head of school. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced enrollment professional with a proven record of success to build on the remarkable momentum of the school which has resulted in a 49 percent increase since 2020, and a current admit rate of 17 percent and yield rate of 53 percent. Representing the school to various constituencies, determining strategies to help achieve institutional goals, managing and collaborating with others, analyzing trends and data, working closely with the school’s Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing, and staying active in the national conversation around boarding school enrollment are all compelling aspects of this opportunity. The director of admission & financial aid and the senior associate director of admission report directly to the dean; together, the dean, director, and senior associate director oversee an office of 17 professionals as well as several faculty admission affiliates who help represent the school and conduct interviews.
The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in an office responsible for enrolling a selective, residential student body (either at a boarding school or a residential institution of higher education), a master’s degree in a related field, an exemplary work ethic, a demonstrated commitment to access and inclusion, an ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, an obvious enthusiasm for the representing Loomis Chaffee and the admission profession, facility with data and relevant technological platforms, and outstanding communication skills. Specific Responsibilities
Represent the school with enthusiasm, professionalism, thoughtfulness, and integrity in front of groups large and small at local, regional, national, and international recruitment events.
Set enrollment goals in partnership with the head of school, chief financial officer, senior administration, and colleagues in the Office of Admission & Financial Aid.
Develop, implement, assess, and refine enrollment strategies in partnership with administrators and faculty across campus.
Oversee the programs and operations in the Office of Admission & Financial Aid.
In partnership with the director of admission & financial aid, lead the Admission Committee review of all applications.
Oversee the enrollment/re-enrollment processes in partnership with the registrar, Academic Office, and Business Office; work with Office of Student Life, Academic Office, and other school offices and departments to facilitate the transition of new students to the school and retention of current students.
Participate as an active and engaged member of the Head’s Administrative Team.
Seven to ten years of progressively responsible enrollment experience in selective admissions; supervisory experience; independent boarding school or residential college/university experience preferred.
Current and extensive knowledge of best practices around recruitment and enrollment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines; ability to work independently and as the leader of a large, diverse team of professionals.
An affinity for a boarding school community and an obvious joy in working with teenagers.
Integrity, confidentiality, strong work ethic, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
