Cathedral uses a daily rate range for K-5 Science long term substitute teachers of $300 - $400 / day, based on experience.

Main Purpose of the Role
The K-5 Science Teacher is responsible for planning, teaching, and evaluating students in elementary and 5th grade science classes. Our program is inquiry-based and aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. The duration of this maternity leave posting will be approximately 2/1/25 - 3/31/25.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the science department to refine curriculum, evaluate students, and monitor the efficacy of the program.
Communicate with parents of students both formally (through progress reports, report cards, and conferences) and informally (through emails and phone calls as needed).
Participate in ongoing professional development and attend all faculty and staff meetings.
Overtly support and act in accordance with the school’s mission and values
Work collaboratively with homeroom teachers to plan, teach, and assess
Demonstrate appropriate planning and preparation for instruction
Develop and maintain a classroom atmosphere centered on intellectual inquiry and student engagement.
Foster classroom community through inclusionary, compassionate, and supportive practices
Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion
Appropriately carry out specific responsibilities as designated by the division (e.g. duties)
Honor the confidentiality of school and student information
Communicate effectively with co-lead, students, families, and colleagues

Responsive Classroom training or related community-building program e.g. advisory programs
