DESCRIPTION and REQUIREMENTS:
We seek a dynamic, experienced, culturally-aware teacher for a progressive Montessori program that honors educational best practices. Assistant Teachers have completed an undergraduate degree and are working toward professional training in education, which may include Montessori certification and/or a graduate degree in education. The Assistant Teacher attends regular meetings and observes, advises, and serves as a mentor and role model in the areas of student needs, preparing the classroom environment, curriculum development and delivery, classroom routines, family communication, and record keeping as directed by the Lead Teacher. Assistant Teachers report to the Director of Early Childhood Education. We actively seek candidates who will reflect and enhance the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of our school community.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students
Support academic and behavioral routines as assigned
Maintain communication with peers and families and exhibit a receptive and collegial demeanor
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community
Perform arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, monitoring, and other support duties as needed
Participate in and support special events/activities
Participate in professional development initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS required
Minimum of one year teaching experience
Experience with a variety of instructional methods and multi-age learning environments
