The Ethel Walker School has an opening for a head coach for JV Basketball.
As members of the Founders League, Western New England Prep School Athletic Association (WNEPSAA), and the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council
(NEPSAC), Walker’s is looking for candidates enthusiastic to work in an all-girls environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise, develop, and execute effective practices, prepare athletes for competition, and support meaningful skill-building and growth among all players
Establish program philosophy and expectations
Instruct players on the rules and fundamentals of high school competition
Maintain athletic rosters and manage attendance
Attend coaches’ meetings and NEPSAC coaches’ meetings (when appropriate)
Provide timely game reports following a contest
Ensure proper care and maintenance of team equipment and uniforms
Travel with the team on school-provided transportation
Follow all safety practices and policies outlined in the Student Handbook and Coaches’ Handbook
Support a program culture of respect, inclusion, belonging, and sportsmanship
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
Coaching and/or playing experience
Detailed understanding of the rules of the sport
History and practice of sportsmanship and role modeling appropriate behavior with student-athletes
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, including a collaborative work ethic
Commitment to building a positive team culture in an all-girls environment
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
