Head of Early Learning Campus The Awty International School seeks an exemplary early childhood educator to serve as Head of the Early Learning Campus (ELC), serving students in PK-Grade 1. The Awty International School is an independent, not for profit, co-educational, college preparatory day school enrolling 1800 students from Preschool through 12th grade. The School is located in the Spring Branch/Galleria area of Houston, the 4th largest city in the United States.

Description:
The Head of the Early Learning Campus (ELC) supervises and ensures exemplary early years instruction, security and safety, positive school climate and culture, hiring and staffing, support and evaluation of faculty, and leadership for exemplary standards in a multilingual environment. The Head of the ELC will also lead in welcoming, educating and communicating with parents to forge strong partnerships benefiting students.
Reports To: Chief Academic Officer
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
Advanced degree or certification in Administration, Curriculum (or related field)
At least 2 years experience leading and/or managing teams
Preferred Qualifications:
International and/or independent school experience
Bilingual in French or Spanish along with English
Experience in early childhood educational leadership
Experience in language immersion education
Experience with the play-based learning approaches
At least five years full-time teaching and/or school leadership experience

Be well-versed in current research and best practices in teaching and learning and curricular development
Have a positive attitude, flexible approach, and strong organizational skills
Possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administration, students, families, and key contacts at other organizations
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the application of interactive methodologies and technology integration
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure a safe, happy, active environment in which students learn and thrive
Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate an effective early childhood learning program that includes literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, and experiential learning opportunities
Work effectively with people from diverse and international cultures and backgrounds
Maintain appropriate standards of behavior and implement developmentally appropriate culture initiatives as student interventions as needed
Assist in the admission and placement of new students
Assess and advance student learning outcomes and progress
Use data to inform decision-making and create division-specific goals for student success
Oversee curriculum, including assessment and development
Lead the Early Learning Campus Student Support Team with a student-centered approach
Work with the Head of Lower School to ensure vertical alignment of the curriculum and continuity of the student experience
Support a strong faculty through hiring, respectful engagement, guiding professional development, and supervision/ evaluation
Manage the academic/class day schedule, as well as coordinating events and activities
Work Respectfully with parents, through effective and proactive communication
Assist, as needed, with accreditation processes
Represent the Early Learning Campus and the school at key events
Particulars
The Head of The Early Learning Campus is supported by an executive assistant, a receptionist, a deputy head, curricular instructional leaders for both Spanish and French immersion, a school counselor, a learning support specialist, and a number of teachers who serve as cycle and grade level coordinators.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
