Radcliffe Creek School in Chestertown, Maryland is looking for a dynamic, creative Math and Language Arts teacher (grades 1 - 8) who is passionate about working with children in a small independent school that personalizes learning for each child. Our students are learners with average to above-average intelligence who learn better with hands-on, multi-sensory experiences versus a more traditional classroom. Develop Strong Relationships: Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with students and their families, understanding the importance of collaboration and communication.
Inspire Love of Learning: Create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that inspires curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning among young children.
Differentiated Instruction: Recognize and respect the individual learning styles and needs of each student. Develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse academic and social-emotional needs effectively.
Multi-sensory Experiences: Utilize hands-on, multi-sensory approaches to facilitate learning and skill-building, fostering deeper understanding and engagement in small class settings.
Assessment and Communication: Assess student progress regularly and effectively communicate each child’s learning journey to parents and colleagues, ensuring transparency and collaboration in the educational process.

Enrichment: Engage students in enrichment activities during the last period of the day as well as in homeroom and other community times and events
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or the Humanities; Elementary or Middle School Education; or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
Proven experience in Elementary or Middle School education, preferably in a personalized or small school setting
A solid understanding of various neurodivergent profiles, including ADHD, autism, dyscalculia, and how these conditions can affect a student's approach to learning math.
Experience in adapting lessons for different learners, with the ability to modify teaching methods, pacing, and materials according to individual needs.
Patience, empathy, and socio-emotional awareness with a focus on encouragement, praise, and celebrating small victories that can help build students’ confidence and reduce anxiety around math and other educational areas.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Passion for working with children, fostering their growth, and instilling confidence in their abilities to calculate, problem solve, and demonstrate their understanding.
