Pace Academy seeks a Long-Term Substitute Middle School Math Teacher. This substitute position will teach eighth-grade Algebra I and Algebra I Honors. With 282 students in the sixth through eighth grades, the Pace Academy Middle School is a vibrant learning environment that provides an innovative academic program within a nurturing community. Our expert teachers create meaningful learning opportunities for students through lessons that emphasize academic excellence, critical thinking, empathy and integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares course objectives and outlines for courses of study in conjunction with other Middle School faculty, following curriculum guidelines and state and school requirements
Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
Effectively incorporates principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in teaching and classroom culture
Attends training, professional development and education in antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion
Communicates effectively with parents in a timely manner
Leads parent-teacher conferences
Attends parent gatherings and assists with school-sponsored trips
Participates in the co-curricular activities of the school community (such as coaching, sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, etc.)

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree and/or math degree strongly preferred.
2-5 years of Math, specifically Algebra, teaching experience required. Middle-school experience preferred
Strong sense of humor, flexibility and desire to work with middle-school students is required
Must be available for after-school student help
Attendance at evening and weekend functions is occasionally required
Belief in the critical importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the life of a school so as to foster a sense of belonging
Proficient use of technology is necessary
Must be able to work on campus, for in-person learning
