Princeton Day School has an immediate opening for an experienced full-time, 12-month non-exempt Athletic Center Attendant who will be responsible for general building maintenance, custodial and ice maintenance for the school’s Athletic Center and ice rink. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to the operation of the ice resurfacing machine and assist with school related event setup and takedown.
Shifts Include:
This position will work Monday through Friday from 2:00pm - 10:30pm (2nd shift); must also be available to cover some weekend shifts and holidays.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ice
Ice cuts and ice maintenance at scheduled times
Ice maintenance including edging, dry cuts and flooding
Zamboni maintenance
Custodial
Garbage collection
Clean and disinfect bathrooms and locker rooms
Replenish supplies as needed
Mop and vacuum facility
Clean glass, rink side boards, etc.
Clean common areas as needed
Deep clean Field House floor
General Maintenance
Grounds work to exterior area around rink facility
Minor building equipment repairs
Monitor rink equipment and facility, report issues to Director of Athletic Center and/or Director of Facilities
Pro Shop
Sharpen Skates as needed, charge appropriate accounts
Other Duties Include:
Receive assigned work orders and perform work with minimum disruption of occupants
Oversee all facility rental activities and confirm that they are within PDS guidelines
Enforce all rules and regulations set forth by the school
Enforce locker room key policy and confirm that tenants leave rooms in clean and undamaged conditions
Attend and complete all mandatory training
Attend all mandatory meetings
Ensure completion of work in accordance with quality standards
Patrol, inspect, log and maintain property and equipment as required so that the most economical and efficient results may be obtained
Ability to perform special projects as assigned
Assist with school event setup and takedown. Be available to work during events, even if off-hours
Remove debris from exterior walkways, plazas and stairs as necessary
Support building operations as assigned
Snow removal including shoveling, plowing and operating other snow removal equipment
Overtime work is an essential part of a maintenance organization, some overtime is required
Order materials following department guidelines
Open and close Work Orders
Support special events at the school where overtime may be required
Perform Crossing Guard duties as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned or required
Preferred / Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Valid driver’s license required
Moderate computer skills / competency
Ability to maintain a “customer friendly” environment; excellent customer service skills
Must have the ability to interact and assist customers in a professional, approachable and courteous manner
Demonstrate an attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to respond and follow through on assignments/responsibilities in a timely manner
Ability to work on multiple assignments with varying deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of the job

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 120 pounds on occasion

Ability to carry boxes/deliveries up stairs
