Randolph School is seeking an innovative Pre-K teacher with a growth mindset to nurtue and prepare children (Ages 4-5) for a smooth transition to the kindergarten classroom setting. A preschool teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can thrive in their next level of education.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Love and nurture children within a supportive and inclusive environment
- Prepare materials and classrooms necessary to implement provided curriculum and creative activities
- Plan, supervise, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum in accordance with the philosophy of Randolph School and in collaboration with other grade level teachers and specialists
- Foster student growth in the development of thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through modeling of strategies, use of appropriate teacher language, and differentiated provision of support
- Listen to, observe, value, and respond to children’s competencies and interests to build upon them and encourage student learning and develop their social-emotional growth
- Promote children’s collaborative, focused engagement with one another and with objects to provoke exploration and play
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
- Evaluate and reflect on student progress to plan learning experiences and materials to support understanding and stimulate interest
- Make visible students’ learning process and each student’s growth as an individual student through portfolios, classroom documentation, and class webpage
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of early childhood school programs
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence
- Participate in admissions/enrollment events
- Plan and supervise outside classroom and playground activities
- Meet with parents/guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs
- Communicate effectively and build strong, professional relationships with all school constituents
Qualifications:
- B.S. or B.A. in Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution required, M.A. in Education and current AL teacher certification preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in early education preferred
