Nestled amid our nation’s Historic Triangle, Williamsburg, Virginia, is a scenic town filled with colonial history and home of the first legislative assembly in the original thirteen British American colonies, Virginia’s House of Burgesses; Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor, and Thomas Woodrow Wilson called Virginia home. The cradle of the history of the United States of America rests in and around Williamsburg, Virginia.
The city of Williamsburg welcomes thousands of tourists each year and is a safe community in which to raise children. Williamsburg is located on the upper peninsula of southeastern Virginia and is approximately two hours southeast of Washington, D.C., one hour west of Virginia Beach, Two Hours from the Outer Banks, less than one hour east of Richmond, ninety minutes east of Charlottesville, and a few hours east of Roanoke, the Shenandoah Mountains, and Virginia Tech.
Williamsburg Christian Academy is a dually accredited, independent, non-denominational Christian school founded in 1978 as a ministry of the Williamsburg New Testament Church. Its mission was to provide Christian families with a Christian education and disciple students for Christ. WCA grew and transitioned in the early nineties to become a community-based Christian school and was no longer associated with a local church. In 2004, Williamsburg Christian Academy moved into its 68,000-square-foot facility and forty-five-acre property on School House Lane. Today, WCA ministers to the Williamsburg community, shepherding students from more than forty denominations and is spiritually diverse and evangelistic in its focus as it seeks an experienced Head of School to lead its next phase of growth beginning on June 1, 2025..
Mission
Williamsburg Christian Academy provides holistic and personalized instruction that inspires students to become Christ-centered leaders who serve our global community.
Vision
Williamsburg Christian Academy seeks to partner with parents and the community to inspire minds to inquire through God’s wisdom, hearts to compassion in God’s service, and lives to Christ in leadership.
Statement of Biblical Beliefs
Williamsburg Christian Academy was founded and functions upon the fundamental principles of the Word of God. It espouses the historic Christian view of life as presented in the Bible. Every Williamsburg Christian Academy employee shares the following statements of Biblical beliefs and practices. All school families understand them to be the foundational beliefs of the Williamsburg Christian Academy community. We all agree to submit to the Scriptures as the final authority in the WCA community:
The Old and New Testament Scriptures are the inspired Word of God, a complete revelation of God's love and will for the salvation of men, and the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life. (II Tim. 3:15-17; II Pet. 1:20-21; I Thess. 2:13)
There is one sovereign God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; we believe God is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, unbounded in power, and measureless in love. (Matt. 28:19; I Pet. 1:2; II Cor. 13:14)
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was eternally pre-existent as God, and He took on Himself the nature of man through the virgin birth to be both fully God and fully man. We believe in His sinless life, His death on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His high-priestly intercession, and His coming personal return in power and glory. (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:14-18; Is. 7:14; Phil. 2:5-11; Heb. 2:17, 4:15; I John 4:10; Rom. 3:24-25; I Cor. 15:1-4, 20; Acts 1:9-11; Heb. 7:25; II Thess. 1:7)
The Holy Spirit is eternal with the Father and the Son. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, convict men of sin, righteousness, and judgment, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell guide, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service. (Heb. 9:14; John 16:13-14, 16:7-8, 3:5-8, 6:63; Titus 3:5; I Cor. 6:19; Rom. 8:14, 8:2)
God created humans in His image for fellowship with Him, but humankind, through disobedience, became subject to spiritual and physical death. We believe that all human beings, except for Jesus Christ, are sinners by nature and practice and, except for the redemption provided through Jesus Christ, are eternally lost. (Gen. 1:27; Rom. 5:12-19, 6:23)
God the Father is the source of eternal salvation, having loved the world and given His only Son, Jesus Christ, for its redemption. There is no other name under heaven by which fallen humanity can be saved but the name of Jesus. (Heb. 5:9; John 3:16-17; Acts 4:12)
Jesus Christ died for our sins as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and all who personally believe in Him are justified, not by any works of righteousness they have done, but by His perfect righteousness and redeeming blood. We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again and thus become children of God. (Rom. 3:23-28, 5:8-11; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-5; John 3:3, 1:12-13)
There will be a bodily resurrection of all the dead, believers to a judgment of rewards and everlasting joy and fellowship with the Lord, and unbelievers to a judgment of everlasting punishment and separation from the presence of God. (Matt. 6:20; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15; Rom. 14:10-12; I Cor. 3:9-15, 15:21-24; II Cor. 5:10; Rev. 20:11-13)
All who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ are joined together in one great fellowship of believers, the church universal, His body, of which He is the Head. (Eph. 1:22-23; 4:11-16; Titus 3:5)
Marriage is an institution created by God between one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:23-24; Matthew 19:4-6). Marriage reflects Christ's relationship with His bride, the Church. (Ephesians 5:22-32). God designed sexual intimacy exclusively for the marriage relationship, and thus, all sexual activity outside of marriage is sinful and dishonors God. (Genesis 1:27, 2:24; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8; Hebrews 13:4; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-20).
God created males and females in His image. We do not agree with any attempt to alter one's birth sex or gender created by God. (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:18-24; Deuteronomy 22:5; Romans 1:26-29; Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thess.4:1-8).
Biblical Philosophy for Content and Spiritual Formation
Humanities: Williamsburg Christian Academy’s Humanities Department believes God placed us on earth to be observers and communicators. We strive to equip young people with the research and communication skills necessary in all careers and throughout life. Additionally, History and English courses emphasize reflective, nonverbal, and listening skills that we hold as vital ingredients for us to love our neighbors as we are commanded to do in His word. Isaiah 46:9-10 tells us “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”
World Languages: While on the Isle of Patmos in Revelation 7:9, John saw a heavenly vision in which every tribe, tongue, and nation worshiped the Lamb of God on the throne. At WCA, we know that heaven is global, and we are internationally minded. Our World Languages Department introduces cultural competencies and prepares students for lives and successful careers in government service, international business, and mission work. Our world language offerings feature French and Spanish. In Matthew 28:19, we are commanded to “Go ye therefore, and make disciples of the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Math: Williamsburg Christian Academy believes that God gave math to humankind so that we might become better stewards of His creation. Math reinforces natural and spiritual order. WCA’s math faculty challenges young people to develop computational skills through precise repetition, metacognition, and reasoning skills throughout their lives. Luke 14:28 challenges us to properly account for our resources--- “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the costs, whether he have sufficient to finish it?”
Sciences: God is our first and most influential scientist. He creates and sustains life. Williamsburg Christian Academy’s Science Department explores the complexity of God’s creation while modeling respect for the depth of its diversity and appreciation for His design.
John 1:3, “Through him, all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made.”
Visual Art: At Williamsburg Christian Academy, we know that God is the master innovator and inspires us to build, construct, and conceptualize through His gifts to us. We work to encourage and imbue the innovative skill sets God has given young people through His divine inspiration. God demonstrated His artistic genius in Genesis 1:2-5.
Athletics/ Physical Education: The Williamsburg Christian Academy Physical Education Department works to prepare young people to develop their minds for scholarly study through nutrition and movement. Our bodies represent the Lord’s temples, and He has made each of us a steward of his church that dwells within. Physical Education offerings include Weight Training, Nutrition Health, and traditional PE units of exploration.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
Language Arts: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”, Joshua 1:8.
The Performing Arts: Psalms, hymns, and thanksgiving are constant themes throughout scripture. Per Ephesians 5:19, we know that musical praise helps God know the melody of our hearts. At Williamsburg Christian Academy, students explore musical instruments to become young practitioners and enhance praise and worship culture on campus or in their respective churches.
Student Spiritual Formation
Lower School
In the Lower School, learners begin each day in division-wide Praise & Worship. In the Preschool and in the Lower School, Biblical integration in each academic lesson is required.
Upper School
The ministry requires Upper School learners to take a Bible course each year of attendance at WCA. Cultivating Christ-Centered Learners (CCL)
In addition to exploring God’s word in classes each school day, Williamsburg Christian Academy dedicates Wednesday afternoons to Cultivating Christ-Centered Learners (CCL). CCL uses the Seven Guiding Pillars of WCA, listed below, as a launchpad to help our students grow spiritually and emotionally as well-rounded members of our learning community and world.
CCL is the practicum of Williamsburg Christian Academy's mission, service-learning curriculum, and His Word. At the same time, WCA's learning facilitators teach the gospel daily and challenge students to reflect His excellence by modeling God's infallible Word through their actions. According to James 1:22, we are to be doers of the word and not hearers only lest we deceive ourselves. In our Christ-centered community, CCL represents the quintessential experiential learning paradigm. Learners who are believers support Lower School lead learning facilitators and students through Prayer Partners, which provides spiritual worship and supervision assistance.
The Program
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is a globally recognized educational framework that prepares students to become internationally minded, compassionate, and responsible global citizens. By fostering a deep sense of shared humanity and a commitment to the care of our planet, the IB program empowers students to engage with the world around them thoughtfully and ethically. The IB program emphasizes inquiry-based learning, intercultural understanding, and respect for diverse perspectives. It equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to create a more peaceful and just world. Central to this mission is developing well-rounded individuals who embody the IB Learner Profile, a set of attributes designed to cultivate academic excellence and personal growth. In January 2023, Williamsburg became the second Pre-K through 12 evangelical Christian school to earn certification as a continuum International Baccalaureate School and the third Pre-K through 12 Christian School on the continent of North America to earn IB continuum status.

Seven Guiding Pillars
Williamsburg Christian Academy's Seven Guiding Pillars represent the coalescence of the ministry's Christ-centered mission and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Learner Profile. All facets of WCA's program align scripturally with at least one of our Seven Guiding Pillars, which make them our spiritually-informed Student Learning Outcomes:
Developing A Christ-Centered Walk: At Williamsburg Christian Academy, students examine the teachings and life of Christ daily. In addition to daily Biblical immersion, WCA's faculty disciple students spiritually to represent Christ's love in every aspect of their daily lives. Williamsburg Christian Academy's student discipleship program includes instruction on reading the Bible, cultivating a praise and worship rhythm to the Lord, and participating in daily prayer and group devotionals. Williamsburg Christian Academy guides young people to know and live Scripture so that they may grow into evangelical ambassadors of the Kingdom of Christ. Jesus says, in John 12:32, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."
The remaining six pillars of Williamsburg Christian Academy's academic program reflect the spirit of excellence defined in 2 Corinthians 8:7:
"But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, and in all eagerness and in the love from us that is in you—make sure that you excel in this act of kindness too.” (New English Translation). The academic program vertically aligns under our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
By His grace, Williamsburg Christian Academy students grow to be knowledgeable, confident, reflective, aware, and compassionate servant-leaders of our world and its Inhabitants.
Communication: Every aspect of life demands effective communication, regardless of age. At Williamsburg Christian Academy, students cultivate written and verbal communication skills so that they may thrive in any environment for the remainder of their lives.
Christ's example of master communication provides this vital life skill structure. Christ persuaded, corrected, inspired, rebuked, illustrated, questioned, and encouraged as a communicator. Students follow His style of communication through daily verbal and written practice. Whether using debate, research, class simulation, individual and group projects, or email etiquette lessons, Williamsburg Christian Academy students work to develop the skills they will need throughout their academic tenures and life.
Stewardship: Christian stewardship extends to our neighbor, our environment, and all resources that the Lord has provided:
Stewardship of Humanity: In Mark 12:31, we are commanded to "love thy neighbor as thyself." WCA’s service-learning program symbolizes Christ’s love for mankind.
Stewardship of the Earth: “And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” (Gen 2:15). Science and sustainability electives promote care for our habitat.
Stewardship of Finances and Resources: “Pay careful attention to the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds, for riches do not last forever, nor does a crown last from generation to generation.” (Proverbs 27:23-24) Hands-on financial literacy electives prepare students to live responsibly as adults.
Wellness: “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16) Mental and physical wellness is a key component to student academic success and service to the Lord. Wellness offerings include performing arts, athletics, physical education, and nutrition life preparation electives.
Respect: “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” (Romans 12:10). Honoring the dignity of every human being is a fundamental expectation of all members of the WCA community. Through the Code of Conduct (as defined in the Student-Parent Handbook),
Williamsburg Christian Academy guides young people to honor God, respect individuals for their differences and backgrounds, and honor themselves with appropriate speech and actions.
Awareness: Awareness and reflection are among the most valuable academic and life skills students will need throughout their lives. Williamsburg Christian Academy faculty emphasize academic approaches to learning, which are vital to scholarly achievement, alleviating stress, and overcoming adversity. In addition to assisting students to achieve academic success, the above self-management tools also help students navigate life’s unexpected challenges.
Innovation through Inquiry: Inquiry is a foundation of academic excellence. Williamsburg Christian Academy students explore, research, pursue knowledge, and develop keen judgment through inquiry and hands-on experiential application. Once mentally stimulated through inquiry, innovation, and academic risk-taking, students are equipped with the tools they need to grow as 21st-century problem solvers.
