Christina Seix Academy, an independent Pre-K to 8th grade boarding school, is seeking experienced educators for the 2024-2025 school year. Our purpose is to empower extraordinary young people to grow "From Potential to Achievement” by addressing the systemic educational and other barriers that have historically held back children from marginalized communities. We are proud to employ a culturally diverse faculty that is reflective of our diverse student population.
The Middle School Math Teacher would work with the Senior Director of Academic Programs and other instructional team members to create a nurturing and effective learning community, utilizing our 70 acre campus and state of the art facilities.
Job responsibilities will include:
Academic
Learn and implement the curriculum for assigned grade level(s);
Research and create lessons that complement/supplement the curriculum;
Track and assess student academic progress and attendance;
Individualize instruction to help each student achieve curricular objectives;
Provide students and caregivers with regular feedback regarding student performance and progress;
Generate informal and formal reports regarding student performance and progress;
Prepare students for formative and summative assessments;
Integrate and manipulate technology;
Work as part of the academic team to support programmatic duties including, but not limited to, lunch, recess, Advisory, and Before Care with students.

Set and hold students to extremely high academic and behavioral standards;
Develop strong partnerships with families to ensure student success;
Build rapport with students both inside and outside of class;
Assume responsibility for every single scholar’s success by holding all students accountable during transitions, meals, trips, and other learning opportunities;
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a rigorous, joyful, and safe environment across the entire campus;
Participate in school-wide events, including committees, celebratory moments, athletic and parent facing events;
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support various aspects of the school community beyond classroom responsibilities, embracing the ethos of "the village", by contributing to extracurricular activities, school events, and collaborative initiatives, as needed.

Pod Championship Opportunity (optional)
Serve as a pod Champion in one of the key areas for 2 years;
Establish goals and milestones to be achieved over the course of the academic year;
Identify best practices, resources, and opportunities for implementation of key areas in each classroom of the pod;
Lead collaborative work specifically targeted at your area of focus;
Lead pod or whole school professional development initiatives;
Receive stipend and additional professional development allowance for this work.

Physical and Emotional Demands: Work is active; it may require long periods of standing and walking, as well as occasional sitting, reaching at or above shoulder height, twisting, pushing/pulling and stooping/bending/lifting to perform activities with students and staff; must be able to work in an open-concept environment where noise and other activities may at times interfere with concentration. Must be able to alter plans/routines when unexpected, stressful situations and multiple interruptions occur without projecting stress/frustration that would adversely affect the work environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required
MA in Education highly desirable, but not required
2 successful years teaching preferred, but not required
Bilingual desirable, but not required
