Princeton Montessori School, a well-established and accredited independent pre-k-8 school in Princeton, NJ, seeks an engaging, dynamic MYP IB Math teacher for our Middle School program.
At Princeton Montessori School, students are active participants who drive the learning process through inquiry and reflection. In order to help students engage to their fullest potential, our Middle School employs a holistic approach, committed to helping all students discover not only the skills, concepts, and broader ideas surrounding societies past and present, but also who they are as learners and as people, based on the principles of Montessori education.
The ideal candidate would have a passion for working with middle school students, a strong analytical mind, and experience working in an IB or Montessori environment. Also important are strong organization, writing and speaking skills, a comfort level in managing parent relationships, and a collaborative and professional demeanor with colleagues.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
- To maintain and deliver the IB MYP Math classes to a multi-age classroom of grades six through eight
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- Deliver exceptional Math instruction to diverse learners.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously update existing unit plans and related documents
- Work collaboratively with members of the Middle School team and positively contribute to classroom tasks, such as policies, common assessments, instructional practices, grading practices, etc.
- Serve as a conference teacher for up to ten students
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in line with departmental and school policy
- Provide an open-minded, supportive, and caring atmosphere through a climate of commitment, empathy, respect, and open communication.
- Embrace the school’s Montessori philosophy and focus on student-centered learning, critical thinking skills, and creativity
- Support other aspects of the school’s instructional program and supervisory needs.
- Encourage all students to be actively engaged in their own learning and in reviewing their progress against targets
WORK LOCATION: This is an onsite, in-person position in Princeton, NJ.

- Has a minimum of three years experience teaching math in an upper elementary or middle school setting
- While not essential, IB MYP or Montessori experience would be a plus
