Position: TAC Officer
Location: New York Military Academy, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY
Overview:
New York Military Academy (NYMA), a prestigious boarding and day school for grades 7-12, is
seeking a dedicated and disciplined TAC (Teach, Advise, Counsel) Officer to join our team. TAC
Officers play a crucial role in guiding and mentoring cadets, ensuring their personal growth,
discipline, and adherence to NYMA’s values. This is a live-in position, and on-campus housing
may be provided based on availability.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily lives of cadets, ensuring adherence to school policies and fostering a positive,
disciplined environment.
Teach cadets leadership skills, time management, and teamwork through structured activities
and mentorship.
Conduct room inspections, ensure cleanliness, and maintain order within the dormitories.
Monitor cadet behavior, issue merits and demerits, and implement disciplinary measures when
necessary.
Provide guidance and counseling to cadets, addressing their academic, personal, and social
concerns.
Supervise cadet activities, including study halls, formations, and physical training.
Act as a role model, promoting the values of respect, responsibility, and integrity.
Communicate regularly with parents and faculty about cadet progress, achievements, and
concerns.
Assist with emergency response and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Collaborate with the Director of Cadet Life and other TAC Officers to implement programs and
maintain a structured environment.
Qualifications:
Prior military experience is highly preferred.
Experience working in a school environment is highly preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
A commitment to mentoring and guiding young individuals.
Must be physically fit and able to participate in activities such as drills and physical training.
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
All candidates must pass a background check as part of the hiring process.
