Randolph School is seeking an innovative STEM and Science teacher teaching first through fourth grades within our Lower School Division. Applicants should be interested in creating a robust STEM learning program that complements a standards-based school curriculum. The STEM program will focus on inquiry-based STEM experiences that spark interest, build science capital, encourage science identity, and foster participation in STEM.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Develop, evaluate, revise, and facilitate engaging, accessible, and relevant STEM experiences
Implement Lower School science curriculum by ensuring all interactions are social, connected, inclusive, engaging, age-appropriate, and evidence-based
Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through active participation in professional growth activities, specifically current scientific breakthroughs and STEM engagement/education trends, via training sessions, seminars, workshops, peer evaluation, self-directed research, and other opportunities
Strive to create a vibrant and exciting atmosphere that inspires students to want to learn
Facilitate hands-on STEM experiences at engagement stations throughout the division
Collaborate with other STEM faculty for a cohesive program
Tend class animals and incorporate them in the educational experience
Promote and coordinate cross-curricular opportunities with grade-level teachers that complement their curriculum
Maintain an effective, safe, inviting, well-organized and inventoried classroom
Identify and respond to each individual students’ learning needs and create enrichment and remedial opportunities; implement instructional strategies that contribute to meaningful learning experiences for all learners
Demonstrate effective written and oral communication (parent conferences, written correspondence including narrative reports)
Effectively monitor and manage student learning using a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress
Create a supportive and inclusive environment and develop respectful relationships with students by using conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques within the classroom
Integrate technology appropriately in the classroom
Use our Learning Management System to communicate and organize assignments
Qualifications:
B.S. or B.A. in Science or Education required, master’s degree preferred
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in teaching lower school science preferred
Independent college preparatory school experience preferred
Student-centered, collaborative, approachable, level-headed in a busy environment, with a sense of humor
Interest and ability to contribute to our clubs, athletics, and extracurricular programs is an additional consideration.
