George School, an all-gender Quaker boarding/day school located in Newtown, PA, seeks a Teacher of Woodworking & Design beginning in August 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Develop and teach a three-to-four-year sequence of woodworking, including International Baccalaureate curricula, that complement other visual arts offerings in the Arts Department.
Manage and budget for a studio and its supplies and equipment
Assist students with portfolio preparation
Oversee student co-op workers
Support and showcase the arts on campus.
Coordinate and facilitate on-campus art shows and various regional exhibitions and competitions with other visual arts faculty.
Desired Qualifications
Master of Fine Arts degree is a plus, but not required.
Ability to teach conceptual, as well as representational, approaches to woodworking.
Proficiency in computer-aided design software.
Demonstrate an interest in other aspects of boarding school life, such as coaching a sport or helping supervise a dormitory is a plus.
Experience in working within a fast-paced work environment.
Capability of partnering collaboratively with members of the Arts department and serve as a positive team player within the George School community.
Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community.
Ability to work with a diverse student population in a style consistent with Quaker values.
