Job Summary                        

To identify and provide specialized instruction and support for students with dyslexia and dyscalculia across all grade levels while collaborating with teachers and parents to ensure student success.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Intervention:

• Provide specialized multisensory instruction to students identified with dyslexia (in Middle School, grades 6-8), focusing on phonics and language structure

• Deliver small group interventions using evidence-based dyslexia intervention programs

• Provide specialized push in, and small-group math intervention to students (primarily in Lower and Middle School, grades K-8)

• Develop and modify curricula and prepare lessons tailored to students' ability levels

• Support Upper School students identified with dyslexia and dyscalculia in their success at school

• Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed

Collaboration and Support:

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support dyslexic and dyscalculia students in general education settings

• Provide coaching and professional development to staff on effective reading instruction and dyslexia support strategies

• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and provide strategies for home support

Program Management

• Maintain accurate records of student assessments, interventions, and progress

• Stay current with research and best practices in dyslexia intervention and share knowledge with the school community

Other duties

• Participate in committee, department, and staff meetings and school-sponsored events that would benefit from your area of expertise
• Be involved in the school community at large
• Assume responsibility for other projects as the Associate Head or Head of School assigns

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or related field (Master's preferred)
• Valid teaching certification
• Specialized training in dyslexia intervention (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or similar approach)
• Specialized training in multisensory dyscalculia intervention 
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with dyslexic students
• Strong knowledge of reading research, strategies, and dyslexia and dyscalculia-specific interventions

• Proficiency in data analysis and progress monitoring
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting interventions to meet individual student needs

SALARY RANGE: $48,00 to $52,000 annually based upon skills and experience, excellent benefits package. The position begins in January.
