Houston Christian High School (HCHS) is accepting applications for the position of Counselor. The Counselor, under the direction of the Counseling and College Guidance Director, communicates with students on academic, spiritual, and personal matters and is available to serve students and parents with up-to-date college information and application processes. The Counselor supports the Counseling Department team and all Counseling events, working in collaboration with all administrators, staff, and faculty. This is a full-time and exempt position.
?QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
Master’s degree in counseling or a related area or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience.
Experience with private or public school counseling.
Classroom teaching experience is beneficial.
Knowledge and experience guiding students through the college guidance and application process.
Strong interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity, diplomacy, credibility, and ethical conduct.
Flexibility, sense of humor, and willingness to assist with administrative tasks in a fast-paced team environment.
Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, and display sound judgment and sensitivity in difficult conversations.
Must be self-starting and able to multitask.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Excellent presentation skill is important and expected.
Must be able to quickly learn and accurately use Blackbaud software (Learning Management system).
Proficient in basic technology applications. Google Apps knowledge is expected (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
Contribution to the life of the school outside of regular duties is expected.
Represent the school in a positive light and be a strong spokesperson for the school.
