George School, an all-gender Quaker boarding/day school located in Newtown, PA, seeks a full-time Class Dean beginning in mid-August 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Responsibilities
Support all students in the grade.
Support advisors as they work with individual students.
Provide a timely and sensitive bridge between parents and the school and establish a cooperative working relationship.
Address community-wide issues of social climate, tone, respect, and belonging through the development and execution of special programs and scheduling, as well as through intervention with individual students.
Be responsible for discipline and fostering good conduct.
Serve as the lead investigating Dean for discipline questions that arise with any student in their class.
Plan and execute grade-specific activities and events, such as class meetings, trips, and dances with the Director of Student Activities and Class Sponsor.
Read student course reports, academic alerts, and attendance reports as needed
Meet with other Class Deans to communicate and ensure consistency among the four grades.
Meet with learning and counseling services to coordinate academic and emotional support for students.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience teaching Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate curricula preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong attentiveness to detail.
Ability to work with a broad range of community members.
Ability to make unpopular decisions, take responsibility, and set boundaries in the face of unreasonable demands and persistent concerns.
