Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, seeks a Dean of Students to begin in the 2025-26 school year. Reporting to the Heads of Middle and High Schools, the Dean of Students will be a key leader in the Middle and High School Divisions. The Dean of Students serves a leading role in encouraging, supporting, and supervising student growth and development in the Middle and High School divisions (grades 5-12) and is an essential advocate and leader in the daily lives of our students. Working closely with the Division Heads, the Dean of Students sets the tone for school culture and is an ardent supporter of our mission and core beliefs.
The Dean of Students will be an experienced educator with a track record of positive engagement across a variety of school constituencies. The Dean of Students will demonstrate compassion, empathy, and openness while utilizing excellent active listening and communication skills. The successful candidate will be committed to collaboration with students, parents, and faculty and possess a sense of perspective and balance.
The Dean of Students will be responsible for taking up our work with student discipline and support, in coordination with the Division Heads, the Director of Student Services, and the school counselors. In addition, the Dean of Students will be expected to promote a positive school culture through a focus on the student experience, leading efforts to build community bonding and spirit. The Dean of Students will look for ways to build relationships with students and families and find proactive approaches to keeping our community healthy and strong.

Have a belief in the intrinsic relationship between social-emotional learning and culturally responsive pedagogy.
SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEAN
Work with faculty and administration to identify and remedy behavioral concerns;
Lead the disciplinary process in the Middle and High School, supporting the development of restorative justices practices amongst the faculty;
Support the advisory program through social-emotional learning curriculum development and community building experiences for both grade levels and divisions;
Serve as a Middle School advisor;
Coordinate Grade Level Leaders and advisors and lead meetings of grade level groups;
Serve as a member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee;
Manage Clubs and Electives in the Middle and High School;
In collaboration with the Division Heads, creating a faculty duty schedule and relevant expectations;
Be highly visible and present during and beyond the school day;
Liaise with Student Services in support of Middle and High School students;
Maintain relevant sections of the Student/Family Handbook.

QUALIFICATIONS
Have full eligibility to teach in the US
Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
At least 2 years of teaching experience;
Excellent oral, organizational, and written communication skills;
Experience with the International Baccalaureate is welcome, but not required.
