We are looking for a member of our clinical team as a lead nurse and Director of the Jones Health Center, joining our community of educators that actively strive to be diverse, equitable and inclusive. This is a twelve month position.
Responsibilities: The Director of Jones Health Center will join a well-established team of educators and clinicians at Ravenscroft and will serve in the Student Affairs Department, reporting to the Associate Head of School for Student Affairs and overseeing our nursing team. This person is responsible for ensuring the provision of health services to the highest degree of ethical standards. This includes:
Coordinate and supervise the daily operations of the Jones Health Center and delivery of health services to students PreK-12.
Assist students, faculty and staff who become ill or injured at school.
Maintain cumulative electronic health records, including immunization records, in our Electronic Medical Record system, Magnus.
Respond to and manage medical emergencies that arise and give emergency first aid as appropriate.Dispense prescribed medications and supervise treatment regimens.
Communicate with students and parents regarding health concerns on campus.
Order and maintain stock of medications, medical supplies, and equipment used in the Health Center and on campus.
Coordinate with divisional counselors to communicate appropriate medical information to teachers, coaches, counselors and other community members related to physical disabilities or medical situations that might affect school performance or safety of students.
Obtain standing orders and prescriptions for medications such as stock emergency Epi-Pens, Narcan, and Albuterol from the school's consulting physician as appropriate.
Maintain a strong community referral base and arrange for appropriate referral of students who require further evaluation and care by physicians.
Assist with student and parent education on health-related topics. Refer knowledge of potential or actual safety hazards in the school environment to the attention of appropriate school personnel.
Consult with local Health Department officials regarding situations that pertain to the health of the school community or the "greater community".
Compile and supply data regarding annual immunization requirements to the NC State Immunization Division.
Prepare and update school health policies and forms that pertain to students' health and well-being.
Provision of health services in summer to kids attending summer camps on the Ravenscroft campus
Qualifications: Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of personal warmth, professionalism, and a clear and palpable interest in working with children. A minimum of a Bachelors of Science in Nursing is required. The individual must also be a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina. Successful applicants will possess excellent computer, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and will have adaptability to fulfill the role in person and through a virtual platform. It is preferred that the candidate have experience in a school setting, working with children and their parents. Applicants must meet the physical requirements of the position.
