POSITION SUMMARY:
The Galloway School is seeking a full-time Math teacher who is primarily responsible for teaching a full load of courses (five per semester), serving as an advisor, and engaging joyfully and collaboratively with the Galloway community. Courses might include any level of high school math including Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, or Statistics, to be determined based on teaching strengths and institutional needs.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Upper Learning Math Teacher is expected to:
Teach five sections of math.
Serve as an advisor to an assigned group of Upper Learning students in 9th - 12th grade.
Support a differentiated and integrated curriculum.
Engage students through project-based learning, hands-on activities, experimentation and iteration, and other active approaches to learning.
Take a student-centered approach by providing responsive instruction, including differentiation and flexibility to adjust plans when needed.
Use activities and a variety of assessment types to assess student learning and monitor growth.
Stay updated on current instruction methods and research.
Participate constructively and collaboratively in professional development, grade level, and department meetings.
Collaborate with colleagues in and across departments.
Seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Participate in extracurricular activities, such as coaching, sponsorship of clubs, involvement in after-school student activities, and chaperoning of student events.
Maintain a safe, comfortable, and engaging classroom environment.
