TKA is a Christ-centered school grounded in a Biblical worldview, and we are looking for a Junior High Theater Director who is a follower of Jesus Christ and is dedicated to the school’s Christ-centered mission. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the production from casting to performance.
Essential Job Functions
Regular Activities
Collaborate with creative design team regarding vision and execution of the production
Analyze the script and adapt to align with the mission and vision of TKA
Develop a vision for the production
Run auditions and incorporate additional roles when possible to accommodate students
Plan and coordinate rehearsals
Oversee the technical aspects of the production
Work in tandem with a student stage manager and tech crew
Initiate and lead weekly production staff team meetings outside of rehearsals
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in field related to teaching assignments preferred
Training or experience managing a large group of students
Background teaching theatre fundamentals and acting techniques
Experience directing large plays and musicals
Ability to lead a production team for large scale musicals
Familiarity with technical theatre desirable
Involvement in working with parent volunteer committees
Skills and Abilities
Strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills
Ability to effectively manage students
Excellent skills in communicating both orally and in written form
Able to work both independently and in a team setting
Demonstrated ability to lead by example
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite
Ability to learn new computer software systems

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work will be performed from the campus
Will move throughout the campus during the day
May occasionally have to lift up to 20 pounds
Work is generally performed, Mid August - Early June
This production schedule is established each spring. As much advance notice as possible will be provided.
The months listed are approximate, and the annual start and end date will be dictated by the school calendar and the department’s needs.
Salary & Benefits
Pay Grid: VPA JH Theater Director
Pay Grid Range: $3,500 to $4,200
This position is paid based on a preset salary grid, and the actual salary will be determined by applicable education and experience as determined by the Human Resources department. The starting pay listed reflects this position's minimum experience and education requirements. The top pay range represents the top of the pay grid for this position. It is rare for a candidate to enter this position at the top of the pay grid. Most candidates can expect to enter in the lower to middle section of the pay grid, depending on experience and education.
